Desert Sky Transit Center was constructed on an underdeveloped four-acre parcel in west Phoenix. ART was responsible for developing a complete design package and associated construction documents for the project. The ART team designed a large canopy structure to cover passenger platform/bus bays and to provide shade for passengers. The design also incorporates a bus staging area, transit/security building, bicycle facilities, hardscape and landscape features, solar panels, covered parking, site signage, public art, traffic signals and required improvements along 79th Avenue and Thomas Road. The design integrates the needs of surrounding projects.
