A|R|T’s renovation and new construction work in the Buckeye Commerce Center in Phoenix is exemplary of the company’s cultural advocacy. One of the spaces within the project was designed for to be the new office building of Chicanos Por La Causa, where they champion both direct assistance and advocacy for policies that enhance the quality of life in underserved communities. This project also required the preservation of a historic and culturally significant building on site, achieved through careful site planning. The new construction of the project continues to be a space for the advocacy of Latin and Indigenous culture, as it now houses Xico Arte y Cultura, one of oldest ethnic arts organizations in the United States, promoting Latino and Indigenous culture through art and community engagement.
